A Summer Camp in Maine
There is something magical about summer camp in Maine. Home to summer camping for over 100 years, cool
nights and warm, sunny days provide the perfect backdrop to lots of activity and spending time outdoors.
Our own Lake Cobbosseecontee is iconic Maine: a crystal clear lake, dotted with tree covered islands to explore,
and boasts the only inland lighthouse. We even have our very own island for overnight campouts. Outdoor adventure
is right at our doorstep with campfires and s'mores by the lake, hiking to the top of Mt. Katahdin, exploring the
Great North Woods, white water rafting on the Kennebec River and even hitting the beaches of the Atlantic
Ocean only a short drive away. The small towns of Monmouth and Winthrop know summer has arrived when they hear
the campers' laughter from Kippewa and from our brother camp, Cobbossee. Campers, on the other hand, know they
have reached their summer home when they hear the sound of the loons on the lake and participate in our annual,
traditional Maine Lobster Bake. Appreciating the outdoors and being aware of the environment takes on a whole
new meaning in Maine's undeveloped wilderness. Maine is also a year-round haven for local artists, whose ranks
swell in the summertime, providing endless resources of talent in fine arts & crafts and theater.
You may even want to spend a few extra days in Maine yourself before or after picking up your camper. We are
happy to recommend some places to explore.
