Welcome to Kippewa!

You have decided to travel to Maine to work at Camp Kippewa for Girls this summer - how exciting! We know that this can be overwhelming, and perhaps a little bit scary at the same time. You are very likely asking yourself, "okay, now what?". We are here to help make the process as smooth as possible.

Our international staff members come to Kippy from all over the world. We have people arriving from Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, England, Ireland, Mexico, Canada and more! We know that planning for your travel to camp, figuring out your visa and insurance, packing, a long with everything else can be a little overwhelming. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

If you are coming to Kippewa through CampGroup's J-1 Visa Sponsorship...
  1. Fill out the J-1 Visa application online right away. Read the instructions very carefully - you need to fill out this form on your computer, then print it, sign it, fax it and mail it in. Full details of the visa application process can be found here.

  2. Overseas Staff Only: You will need to schedule an interview with your local embassy after your visa paperwork has been processed and returned to you. Detailed instructions will arrive with your paperwork. (Embassy interview not required for Canadian Staff)

  3. Insurance coverage will be provided along with your visa. You will be covered for the time that you are traveling (before and after camp) and for the time that you are working at Kippewa.

  4. Travel arrangements should be made far in advance of the time you come to Kippewa. Carefully read our newsletters, they will provide detailed information about times and places where we will be picking people up.

  5. You need to get a background check from your local police station before coming to camp.

  6. Start getting excited! You are going to have a great summer at Kippewa!

If you are obtaining your J1 visa through any other agency (Camp America, CCUSA, Interexchange, etc.)...
  1. Your agency should be sending you everything you need for your visa application and insurance coverage. Please let us know if you have any problems.

  2. Your agency will also help you with your travel arrangements to camp - please make sure that your flight times and arrivals correspond to the correct dates and pick-up locations for getting to Kippewa for Girls.

  3. We will be sending you a contract and some other paperwork to sign. This is separate from the paperwork you have filled out for your agency. We need these forms for our own files so please fill them out and return them.

  4. You will need to have a criminal background check performed by your local police station, a copy of this check should go to the agency you are being sponsored through.

  5. Start getting excited! You are going to have a great summer at Kippewa for Girls!
