I have not taken the time to thank you for the astonishing experience you all have given me this past summer. Kippewa is so much more than I could have ever imagined and I am truly blessed to have been a part of it. As a girl who had never even slept in her own backyard, I had no idea what was in store for me. You have created something truly magical, a bubble indeed. This bubble includes the world’s most amazing role models for counselors and campers alike. The leadership staff is a collection of some of the most brilliant, dedicated and caring minds I have come across. I felt that with their experience and suggestions I could handle most any situation that I ran across. I have never made such amazing friends as I have found among my fellow counselors at Camp. I think of each of them fondly almost daily and cherish the memories I have with them. It’s an amazing feat to be able to say I have friends from all over the globe.
My campers also taught me more than I could have guessed. Their enthusiasm and the challenges they presented makes me feel more ready to be a teacher than ever before. I cannot thank you enough for giving me the chance to be silly and goofy and most of all, myself in an actual job. That’s insane! Most people never have this opportunity and I realize how very lucky I am.

Working at Kippewa meant that for the first time I was not only doing something which would passionately enrich and change my life but I was able to be involved in a process which would change many lives around me. Camp is a journey you take with many different types of people and by the end of that journey you find out something special about each one of them, whether they be a 21 year-old counselor, a 65 year-old arts director or an 8-year old girl. It's challenging along the way but the energy and positivity each person gives to one another is more fulfilling than anything you can describe in a textbook or behind a desk.

I've spent three wonderful summers at Kippewa already and am excited to go back for my fourth! I've found it to be a place where not only the girls--but the staff equally--are able to come out of their shells and be goofy, as well as experience working with people from all over the world. Kippewa is such a unique place to learn and teach and is a positive environment that I find myself looking forward to returning to time and time again.

I will always remember what an amazing experience Kippewa has been and the great people I have met and become friends with, campers and staff alike. It has taught me so much. What I would say is that working at a summer camp can be hard work, children can be hard work. There are enormous highs and enormous lows -like when it's time to leave! You will cry, you will laugh but you will cherish the memories you make forever!

I believe that my summer working at Camp Kippewa gave me the opportunity to have a better future. This I realise is a big statement to make but, not only did I further my own personal development, make friends for life and teach and nurture the amazing girls at Kippewa but I also improved my employability. I now work for an international staff summer camp agency and I can 100% guarantee that without my summer at camp I would not have acquired this job. Kippewa has enabled me to work in the Summer Camp industry for the foreseeable future, an industry I am passionate about and love.

While I was at Kippewa this summer, I had a huge realization that my interests/passions were working with children. Although I liked the idea of being a Speech Pathologist, I realized that I wanted something more to do with promoting the health and overall well-being of others- particularly children. Kippewa gave me the chance to really explore my passions and influence different types of teaching techniques that has helped me when working with the children I tutor and volunteer for today. Not only has Kippewa influenced my future career path, but I have also gained so many great friendships-whether they are with other staff or campers- that I continue to keep in close contact with!

Whether it's having your campers dress you up as a toilet paper bride, or teaching girls the dance moves to "5,6,7,8," being a counselor at Kippewa is truly rewarding. The girls look to you as their awesome older sister and while they have fun learning new things you also have the experience of gaining great memories and friends of your own.

Kippewa has taught me so much about myself, helped me to be ambitous and really
allowed me to come even further out of my shell. I have completed three AMAZING
summers at Kippewa and those really were the best summers. It isn't an easy
job, but that isn't what I was after anyway. It's a big challenge that
allows you to grow and experience a strong community like never before. Kippewa
allowed me to learn and develop my teaching skills, team work, leadership
skills and so much more. Without my three years’ experience working at Camp
Kippewa I would most certainly be terrible at my current job!
There is hardly a day that goes by where I don't message one of my friends from
camp or think about something funny/shocking that may have
happened! Although Kippewa is only a summer thing, it really is
with you the whole year round and you just simply cannot wait to
get back in the bubble!
